Does this sound like console bushes?

Featured Replies

Earlier on today when I went to get my lunch, I noticed when driving away there was a slight clunk, I stopped the car and reversed up and the clunk happened once again. The clunks only seems to happen at low speed and seem to correspond with applying and letting off on the throttle and direction travel. Once momentum is up I don't tend to hear the clunk anymore.

I've checked the engine to make sure it's not a mount loose and there isn't any excessive movement,so as above does this mean the console bushes are worn and need replacing? If not what else can it be?

Yep. Sounds like console bushes.

Now to uprate to the cupra bushes or some poly ones.

Think I will change to the Cupra one's for now, is there any other bushes I should consider changing at the same time to stiffen things up?

Should I change the front bushes of the wishbone aswell at the same time?

I would definately change them and the FARB bushes as well, then thats the whole front end sorted. I just did complete set of Superpro front and rear.

Might as well do the droplinks if you do the ARB bushes! Get the HD ones

+1 on both the console bush replacement and drop link replacement. I went and changed the bushes, the sounds got better but didn't dissapear. Got coil overs and replaced the drop links and hey presto no more knocking !!! Hooraaahhh

The drop link's are fairly new on the car, having only replaced them when I fitted the coilovers towards the back end of last year so I think I may well hold out on replacing those just at this moment in time (trying to save for a piper exhaust).

Does anybody know if anybody local to Blackburn/Burnley area has the Powerflex or SuperPro bushes held in stock so that I don't have to make a trip down to Awesome tomorrow afternoon? (wanna fit the new bushes first thing saturday you see)
