Delay order

Featured Replies

Hi

Ordered new fabia elegence 1.2 TSI DSG estate in Dec 11 for delivery Mar/apr 12. Now told there is likely to be a delay in obtaining the DSG.

How do I stand as regards late delivery? Will Skoda be responsible or will I have to take lower trade in etc?

Any advice as to how I should play this with the dealer would be appreciated.

Ray

Think its likely to be due to a severe shortage of DSG gearboxes, one company supplies the whole VAGroup so looks like youl have no choice to wait : ( but i could be wrong

when i bought my vrs i was quoted 6-10 weeks, ended up being 26 weeks but all through this my dealer said they would honour the part ex (first dealer i tried said they'd have to re negotiate) and they also paid for my car to have its mot done inc a wheel bearing and brake work

each dealer maybe slightly different so you need to confirm this with them at some point, what id say is if they cant deliver in a reasonable time then your quite within your rights to cancel and recover your deposit

seeing as your in Cumbria, if its Telfords you might be unlucky regarding the part-ex, Borders on the other hand where very good in this respect ;)

if youve used Deans then ive no idea

My dealer honoured the part exchange value that was agreed at time of sale.

Hi,

This morning I got a delivery update...

Ordered 6th September, build week now 18! That's May! Not expecting to see it before June. 9 months.

Mine's also a Fabia 1.2tsi DSG Elegance estate.

I've since spoken to Skoda UK. They've told me I'll be due compensation of £300. In the meantime, they're also speaking to the dealer with regard to a courtesy car, though I'm not holding my breath.

So, bank on 9 months. On the plus side, you'll get a 62 plate... ;)

I've never heard of a problem with a dealer not honouring a P/Ex price, though I'd ask them to stick it on your contract to be sure.

Ordered same (1.2Tsi DSG Elegance) in November ... I was originally told about 4 months ... but this sounds like I may have a longer wait!

Due to the DSG box as far as I know. However, the vRS seems to be coming through easier...

Thank you for the replies so far. Sounds very much like Skoda/Dealers are not giving us the full picture. Interesting to hear compensation would be due but in the end that is not what I want. Courtesy car seems a good option. Adverse publicity and "What Car" involvement might also put pressure on dealers.

Dealers absloutly hate "what car" so i doubt theyl have any effecr but more publicty might : )

Hi (the james),

Your comments are very helpful. Can I ask for details of your contact at Skoda UK? I notice on the Skoda order form at para 8e that they cannot reduce part-ex by more than 2.5% for each completed month after the first month of estimated delivery so therefore if skoda uk offer compensation then it would soften the blow a bit.

Would appreciate details please.

Ray

Hi Ray,

The Skoda compensation is a set thing. Based on whether you're order goes over 26 weeks or not. There's a helpful post somewhere by RedDog (my Dad!) outlining exactly what it is. It used to be M&S vouchers though dealers were getting the hump because Skoda wasn't reimbursing them. Now, it's usually given as Skoda vouchers, and occassionally as money off at the time of purchase.

You're looking at £300 if these delivery times bear out.

My contact is Craig Berry. I think my Dad's contact was a John Goode? (His Superb came in good time, but my mum's fabia took 26 weeks exactly) There's only 12 in the whole SUK team, and I get the impression they're on the ball.

Hi,

As an update to this topic I have to-day been informed by Skoda Customer Services that no build date (week) will be allocated until after end of May due to "New model year" starting then. Does any member know of changes to this model? or is it just as they say probably only cosmetic changes.

It is looking more likely that it will be Sep before I receive. At least that will give the new plate which I will wait for.

Are there many members caught up in this delay?

Ray

This pretty much mirrors the situation one year ago...

Ray, check out the black hole thread. I'm 8 months in and just lost my build week. As far as I've read, the only difference is the handle on the variable boot floor.

Apparently.

Ive been dealing with John Goode for the problems I've been having. He was very knowledgable and really helpful.

Probably a host of other things which don't really affect the end user (change of looms, sound deadening, clips...the list goes on). Model year changes are normally a reason for a manufacturer to change manufacturing processes as well as things like suppliers. Sometimes takes longer than anticipated for things to fall into place post-change as well so build schedules tend to go a bit awry at that time...

Oh - and the reason that a vRS might come through quicker may be something as basic as there's a greater markup on one = more profit...simple economics! If there's a choice of 2 vehicles to build and its end of the month - one base model and one top-spec - guess which one makes the sales figures better?
