Battery/dynamo light stays on whilst driving

Featured Replies

Hello everyone. I have a recently serviced Skoda Fabia 53 plate (approx 70k on the clock). The battery/dynamo light came on last night whilst driving. I then discovered when I stopped that one headlight had gone and the rear window heater would not switch on. It could be that the blub and heater issues are unrelated.

Anyway, the manual just says that if the battery light comes on and stays on, that I should go to a Skoda dealer. Obviously I'd rather go to them as a last resort (££££). Has anyone else had the battery/dynamo come on whilst driving and are they able to give possible diagnosis of problem?

Thanks

Check all the fuses first. My old Peugeot 306 had the battery light come on. I went through the electrical diagram and found the rear wiper motor was wired in the same circuit. The the wiper relay had corroded, pulled it out and the light went away.
