Big Brakes

Featured Replies

looking for a BBK in a 330mm size that will fit under 17" Spiders. without spacers!

Do HiSpec fit?

Compbrake?

AP?

Stoptech?

Thanks

The Compbrakes are an excellent fitting kit, however they're pistons are a bit too big for the mk.4's hydraulic power, and you won't get the same sharpness as a small pistoned caliper such as the Seat Leon Cupra R 4pots or Brembo GT calipers (4 pot).

Biggest disc size are: 335mm

AP 6 piston callipers will also fit.

wonder what the piston size is like on the four pots, as as said the 6 pot hi spec kit gave a lengthy pedal travel.

Nice looking coilovers too!

you need to be fitting a tt front end with this setup

didnt know they made coilovers that fit the octy

as those pictyred wont

they do. That is just a generic picture of them. they are very very good coilovers!

Well its polybushed at the front atm. just need to price up ko3s hybrid, maf + injectors next

The Billet 4 should be a good match, quite a modest sized caliper iirc.

Remember speaking to the chap in HiSpec (4-5yrs ago) and being shown couple of sets of Billet 4's (unpainted and anodised) and Monster 6's.

The Monster 6's where huge and heavy to boot.

Do it properly and have my old GT30 garrett!!.....you will need forged rods and lower comp pistons, bigger d'p and sports cat and a few other parts mind.... Can be yours for £400 - sorry for hijacking thread! :D

dont tempt me :p

Already have 3" miltek system turbo back

But id need pistons and rods 1k ish manifold 500ish

so im looking at 2.5k + for a gt30 setup

to 1.5k on a k03s setup

Not to mention an LSD!

Probably better off with a smaller turbo like the hybrid, spools up quicker, should be well suited to smaller UK tracks with lots of corners like Anglesey, Combe, Cadwell, Brands Indy etc.

+1 on the LSD/ATB

The standard open diff found in VAG gearboxes is utter shute - basically 1WD

Don't forget the FARB+RARB either

Well i fitted the THS Intercooler yesterday. Boost is a bit lower but thats to be expected but its a nice constant boost of just under 1 bar now i dont know if i should stage2 it or wait a few months till i hybrid it!

Had to replace a knock sensor and my maf too :(

Might as well wait - unless you go to a tuner who's happy to cut a deal to do a custom remap on the setup you have now and then a change to it when you get the new turbo.

The Compbrakes ... won't get the same sharpness as a small pistoned caliper such as the Seat Leon Cupra R 4pots or Brembo GT calipers (4 pot).

yes they will - you just need vacuum pipework without holes in it
