Hi all,

Just curious to know what the experience of others here who've ordered new cars has been. I placed my order through autoebid for a race blue petrol Octavia VRS DSG on 1/12/11. Paid autoebid their fee and £500 deposit to the dealer. This was done over the phone and post as dealer wasn't local (about 50 miles away).

Since then I've heard nothing from them. They quoted a delivery date of 15/3/12. I have contacted them twice and been fobbed off. No build date nothing!

Is this normal once they've got your order or could it be because my order was through Internet broker and hence low margin? Realistically speaking what chance do I have of seeing it by the promised date? That is a special date for me as its my wife's b'day and this was meant as a surprise for her!

Update: got no reply to emails. Finally called them up today and managed to speak to someone in sales who looked up my file and said they have a build date for week 6 and I can expect delivery Mid March! Was mum on why they'd failed to notify me but gave me an SLI number to help me track it's progress. Am proper excited!!😃

I did mine on 31/12 and got a build date of Week 9 (1st week in march) I would guess yours will be sooner than that.

Ordered mine in early November and it'll be at the dealers in two weeks time, although I am waiting until 1st March to take delivery.

Thanks to you both for your replies. But it looks like your dealers kept you informed. Am I just expected to wait around and then one day get a call to say its ready?!?

To be honest its quite bad service if they arent keeping you informed I would ring the people you ordered it from and ask whats the latest.

Out of interest, do you get the same perks as if you bought from a dealer like the 20% off?

More! That's why I went with them. Was about £1200 lower than with 20% off which my local was offering. That's almost another 7-8% off!

How long from buid date to delivery?

Ordered mine VRS CR manual + a few options 28th May.

Pick it up next week. I make that under 8 weeks.

Really pleased, I was told to expect normal 12 week wait.
