No got one already on Anglesey race track

There's also Pembrey and Llandow not to mention the track coming to Ebbw Vale but nothing on the scale of the ring. Part of me wants one, part of me realises that the do-gooders and the eco-mentalists would stop it but I also think Welsh roads at the moment are our little secret and some are amazing to drive on.

Nothing of this kind of scale will ever happen anywhere I doubt!

Well, to be fair... nothing has happened in Ebbw Vale since the garden festival!

You're wrong there Babs, there's been crippling depression, Chavs and benefit fraud galore only second to Merthyr!

Ok, nothing positive! I went to... Festival Park is it? Went there once, took 5 minutes to walk around then went home!

Major issues, methinks. despite the economic similarities, South Wales is quite highly populated. So there's a people aspect to all of this. Plus the geography is going to be a significant challenge. S Wales valleys are glacially formed. So lots of relatively steep mountains/hills with little river valleys in between. ALL of the infrastructure and all of the people live in the V of the valley. (Apart from Penrhys but no-one's survived going up there to establish the genome in 20 years). Another aspect to this is the cost if one simply decides to build at a higher altitude or surround the "crown" of a hill/mountain. It's going to be phenomenally expensive to excavate and bulwark to provide a stable road in the first place. Then, as others have already queried, there's not a lot of run off if someone drove through or over the armco in an accident. Into the cliff immediately or a a short flight would be the result. Cue campaign for life taking circuit to be closed.

The Ebbw Vale plan is being looked at quite strongly, and does seem to have the local Council support, I suspect because it is linked to an employment boost (supposedly). However i think noise is going to be a huge problem up there.

Pembrey has some plans for an extension, but there seem to be a few problems, both physically and environmentally.

Llandow has lots of local "anti" problems, mostly with noise, so will never develop to more than a track-day, kart, sprint circuit.

Circit Yns Mon, or whatever they are calling it this month, have redeveloped once, but I think they are now at their limit geographically.

Llys yr Fran Dam is used for a couple of hill climbs each year, which are very popular, but there isn't much else you could do there.

How many people realise that in the late 60's Pontypool Park used to be used for car and bike hill climbs? I'm gradually working through my Dad's old slides and have found a few from there, which I will scan one day.

In the 90's aswell :)

My grand dad used to take me there
