ECU replacement

Featured Replies

My wife's 2008 Fabia refused to start when she went to leave work yesterday, it appeared to fire then died almost immediately. AA thought it was prob the transponder in the key but I fetched the spare and it did the same thing. It was then taken to SMC Skoda main dealer and they've told me that ECU is u/s and needs replacing. They quoted £1127.00 inc parts labour and vat what a bargain........NOT! As you can imagine not very happy as car is now out of warranty and only done 40,000 miles. I've read that the ECU can be taken out and repaired for about £100. Does anyone know how difficult it is to remove one? As it's an electical part I would have thought that it's just unplugged.

Shark Performance (site sponsors and top tuning company) are pretty hot on ECU repairs, give them a call.
