cheers for that mine used about 2 1/2 litres in 4 months is your this bad cheers

Mine likes to use a bit of oil too. Skoda say 1 litre per 1000 miles is acceptable!?!? Personally, I think it's quite an expensive habit, but like you, I can't see any evidence of a leak. Must just be one of those things. :(

cheers for that unreal that. is yours diesel as i heard about diesel using it but mine is peterol

Mine's petrol too. I contacted my local dealer when the light first came on and he was adamant that it's within tolerances. It does seem like a lot, but I guess that some engine use oil and some don't. My old Mazda 6 used to use oil but I put that down to having to thrash it everywhere to make decent progress. It's quite common with Japanese engines apparently. Still doesn't make me feel any better than having to put £15 worth of oil in every month or so.

Mine uses quite a lot too,

Yep, that is about normal

We have a '57 Seat Leon FR FSI with the same engine and it uses a lot of oil (1 litre per 1000-1500 miles). This seems quite normal and nothing to worry about, just remember to check frequently! The Seat manual says that 1 litre per 1000km (680 miles) is acceptable!!!!!!!

Are you really relying on the oil level warning light to let you know that the oil level is probably too low rather than checking the dipstick regularly as recommended in the Owner's Manual?
