Engine top cover

Featured Replies

How do I remove the top cover from a fabia 1.4 petrol DOHC to enable me to get to the oil filter etc.

Cheers,

John.

To remove the plastic top cover which is the air filter housing, this is the cover with the Skoda badge on it I take it. There is a pipe connected at the top left side as you look at it from the front of the car, this just pulls off. Then you can just pull the whole cover up as it presses down on 4 metal pins that hold it in place. I hope that helps

As above, those ones are just on rubber push stud things, but tbh you don't need to take it off to change the oil filter.. Far better off taking the oil filter out through the bottom to avoid the risk of spilling dirty oil over the front of the car. The filter is just screwed onto the front of the engine block and it icky to unscrew it from above due to the proximity of the exhaust manifold.

Many thanks guys, that explains a lot, as I was looking for some screws to take off to remove it.
