amp wiring kit length

Featured Replies

hi all just a quick question does any one know roughly how long the wire from the battery to the amp needs to be to the boot? As i found a wiring kit that i really like but its 5metres long the cable from the battery to the amp and i aint sure if that will be enough. plus the amp sits behind the sub box so the amp aint going to sit like where for example the cd changer is

thanks all sorry if i have discussed this in the wrong section but seem to get more answers on the octavia mk1 area then in the security ice and insurance area.

I took others advice and ordered more. Get about 6/7m to be safe.

I crossed mine over the pass to drivers side under the dash, and ran down the drivers side to the sub.

I used about 6.5 metres.

bugger was hopeing for 5metres lol oh well sounds like i will have to go abit custom on the wiring as most of the kits i have looked into have between about 5-6metres.

Some people have said that its easier to put the wire under the car rather than though it. Nice hole behind the back bumper for it to go though

5m got me exactly this far in a straight line along the sill, so not long enough as it really needed to go up over the wheel-arch too :'(

i take it thats from the front of the car to the boot as that is the side i am going to put the sub and amp on and to me that looks about right for me as the amp sits behind the subbox so the sub will sit against that back seat u have folded down ??

Yup, I had a small loop of slack next to the battery to allow for a bit of movement, through the bulkhead behind the glovebox then along the sill. 5m is plenty if you're fitting onto the back of the seat

Do you already have an amp? I happen to be listing an amp and sub just now as I've decided to remove all of mine: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/2004jasone/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686

if it's any help mate i used this kit with no issues:

standard vrs (not estate)

removed the cd changer & bracket, bolted a bit of mdf to the bracket, reinstalled the bracket & screwed the amp to the mdf board. then ran the rca cable down passenger side, behind the glove box to the head unit and the power lead (battery to amp connection) round the back of the head unit, above the pedals down the drivers side & across the underside of the back seats to the amp in the boot.

thats awesome thanks guys and exhondaman for your help there thats the next thing on the list to do is get my sub and amp running again i have always been a fan of stinger audio cabling as my first amp wiring kit which a friend gave me on the box it was all rated at big power etc so bolted it in BIG MISTAKE!! ended up with an amp dying on me and i think my cable from the battery to amp had caught fire slighty so never again cheap gear was a 10gauge kit with a 60amp fuse and just kept blowing on the fuse so have a 8 gauge stinger kit atm and i am looking to upgrade to a kit called tsunami http://www.dvbcaraudio.co.uk/tsunami-gauge-1600-watt-wiring-p-4097.html which comes with a big enough fuse that i need for my sub and amp as i cant afford stinger 4gauge kit near on 100pounds so will go with this kit
