New headunit - now light warning buzzer no longer works

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

have recently fitted a new Sony headunit into my fabia! looks and sounds great but one problem - it has deactivated the warning buzzer made when u leave the lights on when stopped. when i disconnect the stereo it works fine again! :S

anyone had this before or know how to fix it?

i really didnt think id miss that annoying beep noise - but ive left my lights on so many times without it!

Cheers

H

Take out the radio - try fitting another brand or radio and see if this still happens?? I know some models of Alfa dont like Alpine headunits sometimes and the fuel filler flap pops open constantly in a hissy fit. Its to do with where the illumination wire for the radio goes into the original loom.

I'll try and explain as best as I can:-

This is the layout of where the wires are in comparison to the loom

Sony, Alpine, Pioneer (1999 and up), Eclipse, Kenwood, JVC, etc

P o w e r

Memory (+12v Constant) Yellow

Ignition (+12v Switched) Red

Ground (-) Black

Dimmer Pink/White (Alpine only) - REMOVE

Power Antenna Blue - REMOVE

Amplifier Turn-on Blue/White - REMOVE

Phone Mute Light Blue (Sony only) - REMOVE

What i would suggest as a quick fix is make sure the only wires that go to the plug on the power side of the sony loom is the red, yellow and black. the reason being the aftermarket sony looms other wires line upto different things on each car - one of these could be the dash illumination wire which will trick the car into thinking the lights arent on - hence no buzzer.

Hope that helps

Cheers for the reply Polo,

tried another radio still does it. didnt really wanna go cutting any wires though :S

think id rather not have the buzzer!

do u reckon a alternative adapter would solve the issue?

Cheers H

Adaptor types and all wiring info etc in my long post......linky.........

http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/196288-oem-wiring-loom-colours-pins-for-stereos/

could be the diagnostics wire????... B)

Most likely to be something to do with the black connector. Check the Sony's wiring diagram against this. Thinking about it, pin3/self diag/K wire seems the best candidate for screwing things up like this.

I've seen adapter looms where pins 1-3 are empty/not connected/left blank.

8 Pin Multi Connector Black

1 – ‘Gala’ function – Volume Adaptation

2 – Mute – Telephone Mode

3 – Self Diagnosis – K wire

4 – Connection for Ignition Key Controlled On/Off

5 – Terminal 30 – Battery Positive (not assigned to Symphony)

6 – Terminal 58b – Illumination

7 – Terminal 30 – Battery Positive

8 – Terminal 31 – Ground

I think thats what i said! :)

it will be the diagnostic wire, my guess is the headunit is putting 12V into the K-Line which can cause all kinds of strange faults with central locking / buzzers and more which if not dealt with can cause damage elsewhere in the car.

Yep the blue one, will more than likely have a bullet connector on the stereo's loom and should not be connected to the car side.
