Clutch Noise?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I've heard a noise from my fabia vrs when releasing the clutch. It sounda like two pieces of metal grinding, high pitched and squeling its horrible. Well now the car's making the noise more often and when coming to a stanstill in first, clutch down it seems like the cars tryning to get the bitting point and edge foward. Also seems like 3rd gear is crunching slighty, only when at high around 2k and above other then that selecting third gear is fine. Now the clutch seems healthy to me and so does the DMF (it does have a slight rattle/noise of course) so what can cause this?

Appreciate your responses.

Alternator or pulley? I has something similar and they were the cause. Both replaced and noise went away

Well the car is booked in for a alternator belt to be fitted as the belts seen better days. but what about the car trying to edge foward when at a standstill in first? it doesnt always do it.

Hmmm tbh I really don't know, I'm no expert in that field, all I can relate to is that horrible sound you're describing. Could be something totally else but sound wise I had the same thing

clutch friction plate may well have broken up - i'd get it looked at sooner rather than later to prevent any further damage

I'll be looking into it soon anyway. Thanks for the reply though.

Yeah may well be that. But after reding up on here it sounds like the release bearing - Could this be the case?

sounds like your clutch in general is knackered if your car occasionally edges forward.. the noise sounds like release bearing or gbox input shaft bearing failure though

Sounds like the perfect opportunity to fit a SMF. Any advice on where to look?? i know they not cheap but looking to gain more power anyway.

There seems to be plenty of kits on eBay at the moment. Im tempted by a smf as iv already replaced the clutch and dmf once. Wincing at the thought of doing it again!!!
