HID Lights On VRS

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I know a lot of people don't approve of HID headlights but I had them on my last car and loved them :p .

And I definitely won't be able to afford Xenons for the foreseeable future.

So I was wondering if anyone's had any issues with them on their Fabias? Or if they are just a straight forward swap as they should be.

Thanks for any help,

Carl

Do the newer 2007 onwards octavia or fabia vrs models have projector style headlamps ??

must admitt have fitted them to my last two cars and I have to say for the money paid for them they were one off the best mods I made to the car.

Ive fitted hids to my fabia and they are loads better, they dont dazzel other drivers either

I have always found that HID's never look particularly great in a H4 lense that does high/low beam.

The next best thing to Projectors is a lense that has a seperate reflector for high and low beam.

I had them on my Felcia which has a H4 high/low reflector and took them out in the end. Although the beam looked really good if you looked to the side of the car the light scatter was huge!

Waiting for the M** word

I have HID 6k in normal lens, dont have any issues, best upgrade to date.

Cool thanks for all the replys.

I had them on my old MG. 10000k they looked really good! Passed it's MOT with them for the last 2 years.

But The bloke who MOT's my car said from 2012 onwards the HID ballasts need to be isolated in some sort of containment box or something!

Oh well, Doesnt take 2 mins to replace them with ordinary bulbs does it.

Carl

10000k!?

Did they actually output any light? I think they would be way too blue/purple and in all honesty scream out Chav! Go for 4300/5000K. They put out the most light while still looking much whiter than Halogens and without that Chav look!

Haha they did put out light but as you say they were very blue. I always planned to go less blue but thought i would wait until they went....

nearly 3 years down the line still going strong! MG ZR's come with the chav look as standard lol.

Got a more sophisticated Fabia VRS now so i will go with 6000's! :D

Carl

Hehe. Yeh some OEM Xenon's really are very blue/purple. The Mazda 6 is one of them I noticed the other day.

I'd say 6000K is a decent compromise. Personally I would still not go that high but they should look ok.

I've gone for the 6000k's.

If i think there too blue when i fit them il order some 5000's and the others can be spares!

Cheers for the help,

Carl

If you want to fit HIDs look here

Much better than HIDs in reflectors :)

I've had a look at this thread before these look quality!

But unfortunately money is not in abundance after just buying my Fabia.

Maybe in a few months time! I don't suppose this sort of deal comes around very often?

If money is tight, stick with uprated bulbs rather than HIDS.

Don't be a chav and blind everyone with scattered blue light. emoticon-0149-no.gif

I've a set of HID bulbs & ballasts I removed from my A-Class when I sold it. I've not fitted them to my Fabia mainly due to the drilling of the headlight cover required to fit the bulbs. Is it easy enough to get right?

OK I've fitted my HID bulbs at the weekend, 3 days later, the LCD display on my dashboard has no figures on it. Switching engine on and off rectified the problem. Next time I went out in the car 3 hours later the same thing. Restarting brings the display back.

"computer says no" [cough!]

Not sure what to say as fabia isn't canbus yet some HIDs do muck up the onboard comms.

Hmmm my Fabia does give a warning light on the dash if a bulb is out.

it's not a canbus system though iirc.... it is sensitive to them reading above a certain voltage and the light will come on. I'm sure canbus is a bit more in depth than that

OK further to this. I've fitted a relay kit, but because the relay is powered by one headlight connector the other headlight connector isn't used. Thus I get a warning light. Has anyone used a resistor to overcome this and where did they get them from. Not mucH luck on EBay.

Maybe an option is to connect both headlight connectors to power the relay. Thus nullifying the error message (I hope) because one connector isn't in use.
