My brand new Octy VRS TFSI has arrived at the local dealers. It should be ready to pick up Friday.

Are there any things to look out for on a brand new car before I drive away?

I have ordered MKII Octy vRS Hatchback, Petrol in White with Maxidot.

Give the body, paint work and interior a really good look for any damage/imperfections and make sure you have all loose items just in case as it is really easy to make a complaint before you take delivery.

Everything will probably be OK and then just make sure you get the whole of your wide smile safely inside the car before you drive off !

Unless you ordered the spare wheel I'd ask for a jack - so you can take the wheels off to give the a deep clean easier, I didn't and I'm still confused as to their logic of not including a basic tool as standard! Still, £27 from my dealer isn't too bad...

Make sure that they've done anything you've asked them to do such as enabling auto locking / unlocking, cornering fogs, beep on lock / unlock etc and make sure there's enough fuel in it, mine bonged as soon as I turned the key and asked me to 'add fuel' and when I checked it had 7 miles worth in, first thing I had to do was go to the nearest filling station, disgusting, a brand new car and no blinking fuel in it!

Needless to say words were exchanged and I got a tank of fuel at a later date and caused the dealer to change their policy from delivering cars with empty tanks to delivering them with full tanks although I think that might have been down to SUK giving them a Royal roasting

Well done, welcome to the best colour club!!! They are not too common in white unlike Race Blue... I actually saw another white Octy VRS in my area the other day, first one in 6 months!

Anyway, just make sure everything is done to your liking etc, as them for things like complimentry oil top up etc etc and most importantly, enjoy the car!!!! :-)
