Heated Windscreen

Featured Replies

Do you get heated windscreens on the mk1 fabia?

Cheers James

I wish.

You can only retrofit this with an after market kit and it looks like a pain in the bum

As far as I'm aware it's a ford only thing. Because ford patterned it I think.

My friends 2007 VW Passat has it..

You don't have a heated screen option on a mk1 Fabia... As somebody said ford have the wrights to it so to speak. But other manufactures do still have them. A yeti, mk2 superb, and yes a passat 2007 onwards.

Patent has run out now, as mentioned we have them on models now.

try here

seems straight forward enough, couple of looms really. if i was looking to keep my car long term id consider going for one

Quickclear is a European trademark used by the Ford Motor Company for its electrically heated windshield technology. Instaclear was the name used sometimes in the United States.

Ford own the rights to the technology.

the feature was referred to simply as "Rapid Windscreen De-ice", but the "Quickclear" name began to appear from around 1989 onwards. The system can now be found as either standard equipment or an optional extra on most vehicles produced by Ford or its subsidiaries around the world.

briefly in the Lincoln line in the early 1990s, and in some Land Rovers as well. GM has produced a somewhat similar system called Electriclear.

Heated front windscreen was never an option at all for MKI Fabia......put there are a few kits around to retro fit it as this is preffered for rally cars.....so check a rally/race parts place.... B)

Looks simple enough could probably even run off rear heated window relay

Has any Fabia owner fitted one of these yet??

Apparently unit 18 can do it.

If you can get them to call you back, I've spent 3 days waiting for my call back in 5 minutes!!

Guess I'd pay £350 max to get a heated windscreen fitted and all wired up to a proper oem looking switch etc.

Could it be wired to the rear window one so both come on at the same time from the original button??

I'd rather put the same switch beside it and get

two small stickers with 'front' & 'rear' on to stick on the buttons so you could operate them both separately and all from the oem switches on the dash
