Advice about motor

Featured Replies

I posted earlier thinking that my engine was damaged. Ultimately, I had a lot of fiascos just getting to see the car and bring it back from the shop. I've had it in my home garage yesterday, and where it stands is this:

* Changed fuel filter

* Tried starting by just putting a funnel into the clear hose filled with fresh diesel fuel, no start

* Checked, by loosening nut on injector, that fuel was actually getting pumped to the injectors, which it was

* The shop overfilled the engine with oil, not sure really how much, because it isn't a warm engine, but cold the oil level is about 1cm above max on the dipstick

* Extended (30 seconds) of cranking yesterday resulted in smoke like burned oil coming from somewhere behind the engine.

* Found out that the shop had sprayed brake cleaner into the air intake and gotten it to start, but it ran roughly with rattling so they decided it needed the engine replaced for €1000

Anyway, here is a short video from this morning of trying to start the engine. Air temperature was 5C at the floor, 10C at the hood. There is clicking coming, it seems, from inside the engine on the LH side facing the engine, this can be heard on the video.

Thanks if anyone can give me some advice from that.

It is a 1.9TDI 66kw AGR engine.
