Octy VRS Diesel Spluttered and cut out

Featured Replies

Hi All,

This is my first post, but I hope someone can give me some help with this one:-

I have a 56 plate Octy VRS Diesel. It has been remapped and had the DPF professionally removed and sensors switched off. Now up to around 250BHP!

Today I have had to call out the RAC due to the following:_

Initially took a few goes to start,

Then once going and driving suddenly started spluttering and then cut out.

Now wont start. It turns over but wont fire up.

The RAC guy read the fault codes as the following: -

4720

4708

4704

4705

4713

4707

He could not find any reference to some of these codes.

Has anyone got any insight into what these codes indicate?

Muchos gracias

Thanks!

I wonder if it is likely to be a faulty loom then as has affected 3 injectors at once?

Would you happen to know if this in anyway linked to the injector issue that a lot of people have mentioned as I have had cold start issues recently also? I think I read that the siemens injectors have had a recall.

Steve

Have you had the injector recall as yet? If not then its going to want all four injectors and a new loom.

Hi Tech1e,

I have had the car for about 10 months and not had a recall in my time. Is there anyway of telling if it has been done before?

Do you know how much 4 injectors and loom would be if I cannot get Skoda to do it as a recall?

Thanks,

Steve

 - I think the key word here is "around". A very loose around.

Probably around 210 max I guess

If work has been carried out there should be a sticker in the boot, next to the one it comes with.

It's a recall, ring Skoda Customer Services UK ask for Dan Latta

Hope that helps

Steve_g - as above get it in for the objectors recall.

You mention yours having been remaped and doc removed, care to tell us a bit about it? Ive been considering this for a short while now and would appreciate you thoughts on the car, in general, both before and after the work. Has yours been through MOT since the remap? How smokey is it?

Cheers Phil

The recall in newer anyhow so it's not been done. Get into the dealers ASAP for the free recall.

I am hoping they will agree to come and pick it up as won't start. Does anyone know if they are likely to do this?

Depends if they have a recovery service, not many dealers do.

Liverpoolphil,

Having the dpf removed and remapping the ecu will have you smiling from ear to ear! Make sure you go to a decent garage for it though. They should read the software you have first then custom design the map for you. some places do an off the shelf remap and these are not worth the money. as for the dpf, if done properly they should plasma cut around the welds and remove the dpf as 1piece. Some places just cut a hole and smash it to pieces then weld a plate back over. not good!

Once done it will smoke a bit more but shouldn't affect you emissions. so no worry with mot.

I know a good place in stafford that does both dpf and re-map for £450. He uses a guy in Germany who writes maps for vag group so you get a great quality map that is bespoke to your car.

Let me know if you want the details.

They could have but being a Saturday afternoon my local garage was closed. so instead got it towed home.

They may tow it to a dealers on Monday but will have to call them out again for that.
