Panorama sunroof and headroom

Featured Replies

Hi.

I just over 190cm (6'3") in height and want to order a new superb combi(estate) with the panoramic sunroof. I've read in a road test that headroom can be a problem for tall people with the sunroof option.

Can anyone tall with the panorama sunroof comment if this is a real problem or not, front with electric seats and rear seats?

My local dealer does not have any cars for me to try out my self, as the sunroof is not a option people in Norway usually get.

I have a pano and I'm 193cm and find no problem whatsoever neither with the roof height nor with the temperature of glass roof or any noises that should come through...

So I can only recommend.

And how is it in the back seat?

I'm 196cm, and have the panoramic sunroof. No problems at all in the front (where I spend all of my time), even with the seat positioned to be quite high and straight. Also in the rear-seats, on the occasion where I have sat there, I have had plenty of headroom.

I´m 183 and have to sit a little bent to the center when in the backseat. But if you slide down a little in the seat it´s not a problem. It all depends on how you sit, ass all the way back or a little forward ;)

I'm only 186cms but there is so much adjustment in the seat height that I my head only comes near to the Panoramic roof when at the top of its range. I think the Panoramic roof is one of the best features of the car so go for it.

+1, and I am 196cms and have no issues front or back.

I am smallest and I am unpleasantly close to the roof. I am 185, I did had problems finding the best seating position and don't thing that I found ideal position at the end. Mine problem is that in order to have most comfortable leg space, I have to be in too upright position in order to reach steering wheel. That makes less than 5 fingers headroom space. If I could pull out steering wheel little bit further, I could recline backrest a little bit and have more comfortable headroom space.

I have never checked back seat height.

Also I drove Superb without panorama roof on highway and I noticed it is quieter than mine.

But spacious feeling is priceless. I would never order plain version! I would rather sacrifice 4x4 or DSG...

194cm here and highly recommend. Love it, love it, love it. Best option you can get!

6'3 and a bit here.. Progress Skoda in Baldock have an Elegance with panoramic roof fitted and whilst it has that 'showroom appeal' for me it reminded me of what cars used to be like for us tall folk as my head kept brushing the sunken rooflining which accomodates the roof and its workings. Again in the back the headroom was restricted.

Would it put me off - more irritating than any other thing.... (I like my seat upright..)

Roof itself - Great if a company is funding your car - as a personal purchase thats a hell of a lot of glass if anything were to go wrong... and would it be covered under the vehicles separate glass insurance cover....?

Went to see my car at the dealer today, I'm 6'3" and had plenty of room with the seat down.
