1.9 TDi glow plugs

Featured Replies

How easy are they to change?

I've only owned Citroen HDi diesels prior to the octavia and have never had to change them before, are they easy or is it a garage job?

I am assuming its the glow plugs as my diesel has become a rough starter and I didn't think it was going to get it started yesterday as it took so much turnig over. Once started it runs rought for 2-3 seconds and then runs perfect and after it has been running for more than 30 seconds it will start immediately, it's only when the car has been left for more than 5 or 6 hours does it have a problem. The battery looks quite new as its a halfords one and I tried attaching a boost pack this morning to see if it was the battery but it was the as in it struggled to start. Does this sound like glow plugs to the diesel owners out there? It's an 03 Tdi 110 with 91k.

They are easy to change. All you need is deep 10mm socket. If you have a 1/4" set with a wobble bar, you won't need to remove anything to get at them. Torque is 15Nm.

Cheers for that, replaced them no bother once I had a trip to halfords to get a 10mm socket to fit them. they came out and went in without a hitch, the olds one look like the original ones they were as black as the night.
