Bracing struts by back seat

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just bought an 04 vrs octavia hatch and on either side there is a bracing strut going from the top of the rear wheel arch diagonally to the floor behind the rear seat backs, obviously this restricts the load space when the seats are down, I've not seen this on any other vrs hatch, anybody got any ideas? or is it someones 'one off' mod?

They are standard on every VRS hatch, you must have seen ones where the owners had removed them.

You can remove them if you're using the full loadspace but they're there to keep rigidity at the rear end of the car. The estates don't have them and have smaller wheels to make up for it.

All VRS hatchs have them, not sure about estates

ill have em if you dont want them for my estate!

They do make a differance, i could tell when i took them out to clean my boot trims

why have two when you can have three lol

LOL nice Trev, was that custom made or does somewhere make them?

Des had one in the back of the Red devil that was as thick as a scaffolding pole. Wonder if Clive has kept it in there

Should be pretty well made then! Now hurry up with that turbo so you can get it back on the road and see if it feels any different! :)

If anyone wants a set of the vRS struts I will hopefully have a set by tomorrow if anyone wants them.

 they not there for show !!!!

Wobbly handling time lol

Can you post a pic of it fitted please? Might get one for my 4x4 too.

Sorry no fitted pics to hand.

This is the general area where you need to drill the hole to put the bolts through:

Fit easily enough?

Yes

Is it any good?

More use in a wibbly-wobbly vRS than a 4x4 TBH

The 4x4 has a rear haldex subframe and raised boot with fuel cells which make it vastly more rigid than the 2WD models.

a pretty similar spot to where mines gone
