Boy Is That V10 Tdi Faaassssssttt!!!

Featured Replies

Have a thumb through Autocar this week to the Touareg V10 test.

2 Tonnes, Auto and 4x4 to slow it down.

BUT

0-60 and 30-70 in 6.7 seconds !!!

100 in 18.9 and 142mph all out.

How much more sheet metal would I need to weld into the front of my 4x4 Octavia to make it fit ? With 550 lb/ft I reckon that the 0-60 would be about 4 seconds :D .... before the gearbox broke:eek:

A fantastic engine.

I reckon, with that much torque, the whole car would rotate around the crankshft and flip over!

Or the the engine and transmission would take off, without the car.....

Correction - 2.5 tonnes ! (313bhp, 553lb/ft) :)

Saw it on Fifth Gear a few weeks ago, to show the torque, they pulled a 7 tonne combine harvester through a field with it!!!

Loads of pulling power. ;)

As we used to say when I worked for an airline, "you're all torque and no thrust!"

While you are there, Jon, could you check out its traction for me. Wait until the tide is out but just turning, then see how far you can drive out to sea before it gets stuck...

What is this? Pick on me day? I'm really hurt and offended :(

NOT
