Idle Speeds between hot and cold engine

Featured Replies

Never had it on my diesel cars before but my yeti seems to idle when cold at about 1000 1100 rpm then when engine is warm settles to 500-600 rpm is this normal or has my idle gone a bit wrong

as all my previous vw's always kept the idle at the same speed regardless of what the engine had been doing before.

My 170 diesel idles cold at about 1000-1100 then drops back when warm to about 800 so I guess it's normal.

Mine too

Same here and my Audi before did exactly the same. Idled at higher revs when cold.

This was actually something I noticed on mine over the last couple of days. I noticed it because it is unusual; particularly crawling in town traffic, the higher idle speed means you have to be on and off the clutch more than usual.
