I've had a look but can't seem to find an anchor point in a 2006 octavia. Is this right? What are the two points on the sidesjust behind the seats for?

If the 'points' are the same as mine then they are for the Isofix system for child seats.Never used them myself. No idea what other 'anchor' point you mean.

There's the isofix points but some car seats come with a tether strap which hooks over the head rest and into an 'anchor' point. Stops the top of the car seat flinging forward if the dreaded were to happens.
