There is no button, they switch on automatically when you select reverse and it makes a single beep. Once within range of something it starts beeping, more rapidly as you get closer. I used to have an 05 Elegance but can't remember if there was a graphic display too on the radio display.

In the user manual it says there should be a button to turn them on & off situated in the lower console & as there is no audible warning when i reverse can only assume something is not right??

The on/off button only applies to the front parking sensors which are a rare factory cost option.

The Elegance has rear parking sensors as standard and as mentioned above there is no button for the rears. If when you select reverse gear you don't get a single beep then the system isn't working correctly.

That would explain why there's no button, will have to figure out why there's no audio warning, any suggestions??

It could be something as simple as a duff sensor.

Ideally you need to plug the car into a diagnostics machine to check for any logged faults.

However it can sometimes be possible to check them manually, the sensors give out a very faint clicking noise when working. Turn the ignition on, select reverse and then place your ear over each sensor, the one not clicking is the faulty one.

None of them clicking? Then it's likely to be the controller, or your ears aren't sensitive enough :giggle:

In theory though if the system develops a fault, when you select reverse you normally get a constant beep... which I assume you aren't getting?

Yes there is (or should be) a display on the radio - and the radio doesn't have to be on for this to appear.
