Rear Wiper Arm question

Featured Replies

A week or 2 I was happily driving along. After about an hour (rainy, used the wipers) my rear wiper stopped halfway. Retried a couple of times, managed to get it back into the starting position after +/- 10 clicks.

Found out it would probably be the rear wiper motor. Went to an independent garage, he said the same. He unplugged the motor and checked the current, he said there was nothing wrong with the electrics, so he said the motor was done for.

Got a new motor, and installed it today. I broke off a piece of the rear wiper arm almost a year ago when I removed the cover I use against ice forming in winter. When removing the wiper arm today, the other overstressed side finally gave way. Anyway, installed the new motor. And low and behold, it still doesn't work. Tried it with the boot closed, engine running, and nothing.

I now think the boot sensor might be faulty, can anyone tell me if this could be the case on an estate Octavia II? Would the "boot lid open" light be flashing intermittently? Because it hasn't been so far.

My plan so far is going back to the independent garage and have him check it out.

Meanwhile, I'm trying to source a new wiper arm. Not alot of Skoda Octavia parts to be found online, however, I do find a boatload of VW Passat and Fabia parts. There doesn't appear to be a part number on the wiper arm, so can anybody help me out there? Also, would any of these work as a replacement arm?

Many thanks,

Jan

Thanks, not really planning on using that particular seller dua to poor feedback, just wondering if the arms are interchangable.

I might just pop over to the local VW dealer and try to have a look at the wiper, if they let me :) just wondering if someone on here has definate knowledge that the VW/Octavia/Fabia arms are interchangable.

Or how about this;

Wiper sorted, and a VW Passat 3BG arm installed without issue :)

What was the cause in the end, was the new motor faulty or was it a dodgy connection?
