vrs air box mod

Featured Replies

hi all a friend of mine told me if i fit a golf r 34 air box to my 1.8t vrs i will get about 10 extra hores is this true ??

R32?

No!

I very much doubt it. :giggle:

Making an engine breathe better can make a difference, but only if it is actually making it breathe better! An R32 airbox won't make any difference.

No air box will give an extra 10bhp. Some decent expensive induction kits may give 1 or 2 but not 10.

R32 airbox won't do anything, but the R32 airbox snorkel is bigger than the standard 1.8T snorkel so that should offer a less restricted airflow.

10, I thought it was 15?

As Pauldazzel said, the R32 DSG airbox snorkel is much bigger than the standard 1.8t airbox snorkels.

The bottom of the R32 box has also has a larger hole for the snorkel.

I looked into fitting this to my octy, however our air is fed through the P/S wing, where as the Golfs snorkel runs along side the wing and air comes in from the front grill.

It would be a bit of a pain it the ass to get it to fit our cars.

Just get a good panel filter - that's the cheapest best thing you can do to help the car breath better (this has been covered many times on here).

You wont get 10hp or anything like that, but it will help!

Your friend is talking horse ****

No air box or filter mod is ever going to release 10 Bhp. The R32 Airbox is the same as the VRS apart from the snorkel being slightly wider.

True but not on the VRS as the way the snorkel is located on the R32 behind headlight and to the top of front bonnet grill this would be impossible to get the same route on the VRS so pointless mod.

Better to route a 3" ducting form the airbox to lower front grill.
