from germany, an R32 lookalike steering wheel, i like it with the flat bottom but unsure if it will fit, anyone know? i know the description doesnt list fabia but it does list octavia, and r32 steering wheels fit the fabia airbag so im unsure.

Fabia and Octavia are interchangable, as far as I'm aware. Can't see your photo, but I might be interested, if I can find a nice design of wheel then I might just swap my Momo back permanently rather than mess about every year for the MOT :(

somehow my photobucket which ive never had a problem with is telling me ive exceeded my bandwidth, googled it and now apparently i have to go pro to keep using it! what a joke, i have images all over the place in forums and if i dont go pro apparently no images can be displayed again

Got a link to the item? I may be interested in one of these.

Better than an R32 wheel as it doesnt have the stupid "R" on it.

Still £200? sod that lol.

Looks as tho you can pick thread colour and slight changes in pattern.

yeah thats the link, i meant to put it in on the first post, :giggle: so for £200 do we think the airbag will fit?

It says it does, and the metal plate looks pretty much the same as what's in the spare stock wheel I have, so I see no reason why not. eBay stuff can be variable quality though, as I'm sure we all know :)

Why would you need to swap it back for MOT? It's not a requirement as long as the light goes out its ok.

It's been raised before in a few threads, but I still believe that I'll fail because the airbag is "obviously missing or defective" (which is the wording given in the Reason for Rejection in the manual). I wouldn't care about seat/passenger airbags as you can't verify if they're there without removing trim, which isn't allowed. But it's immediately obvious that a steering wheel airbag is missing.

Haven't decided what to do yet though, I might just leave it this year and see if it's down as an advisory due to the rumoured "3 months grace" and just swap it if necessary. But I bought a second wheel while it was cheap (about £100 including the airbag and I got a mate to pick it up so I didn't have to pay a fortune to courier it) so for the sake of a few minutes to change it, it could save me the hassle of a retest.

That is Nice, group buy?? Lol

This looks like it could be a good buy :-)

Would be interested in a group buy too

I was having a look at this aswell but was unsure what the quality would be like.

I saw this a week or 2 back and put it on my to do list when I'm not so skint, so never got round to emailing to aski for fitting conformation

"hi im not sure, because everybody buy this steering for passat and golf, but if you ar sure that is the same airbag so steering should fit, colour striching you can choice"

If it fits the MK4 Golf you will be fine mate.

Do they do returns?

Why not look at a new vRS wheel?

I asked our tester and he checked up, if it's not fitted it can't be tested. There is no requirement to have one, guess they might advise it as not tested as not fitted but as long as the light isn't on it's ok.

I live in Germany so I contacted the seller to ask about these wheels. He confirmed they will fit the Fabia and the the airbag is no problem.

For a group buy of 10 or more he would would do them for €220 each.

However if you return your old steering wheel then the cost is €180.

Seems pretty reasonable.

Once we have at least 10 I will enquire as to how we can do all the returns, postage etc

Sounds pretty good, but could you get him to confirm GBP price? And also will it be ok to send him our wheels after we recieve the new one?

I guess the wheel exchange would be after as he says the lead time can be a few weeks as they are made to order.

I will ask but I guess you pay the full price and then get a refund on return of the wheel (like when you get a new starter motor etc)

He gave me the € price but its easy to convert and UK has a better exchange rate at the moment so its good for UK buyers.
