Speaker removals etc

Featured Replies

Hi,

This has probably been brought up before but I could not find any info on it

basically I want to change the speakers in my Fabia vRS, I managed to pretty much get the door card off, and then got stuck, looked at the speaker and looks like its bolted on

just like in the picture - http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m146/havry/car/Door002.jpg

with the little silver things that dont seem to have a head to screw them out or anything, can anyone tell me how to get them out?

Also,

I'm going to buy some new speakers, I want good sound quality and some good bass, I don't want too much messing about with amps and bass boxes again, my ehad unit has 4x52w as well, can any one reccommend any or anything?

Thanks in advance!!

They are rivets, best thing to do is to get a small drill piece and drill through the centre.

I have a thing for Alpine speakers... not really been looking at their selection recently but they used to have an "R" series or "R-Type" extremely robust and I thought gave the best sound.

Yep drill the rivets out. And unless your removing the whole carrier you'll need to rivet them back in. Skoda stock replacement rivets. You'll need a heavy duty riveter though as they're quite large. Search lazy tongue riveter in eBay, thatll do the job.

You then also need speaker adaptor to fit new ones. Look for golf 4 ones as they are the same fit.

You then need to be conscious of speaker depth, can't remember what the max is without spacers, it's info found on here though. What I know is alpine type G speakers will fit nicely, and are a great affordable solution for decent audio. Alpine type Rs (as mentioned) are great also.

Right guys, I ended up buying the DB Audio TRex 6.1 's they blow y mind, god knows how they got them in! the magnet is HUGE a hell of a lot bigger than the alpine type R's, ended up costing me £180 with custom fitting, speakers were £140 well worth the money with a 2 yr guarentee
