bulb warning light again

Featured Replies

Hey peeps, I keep getting that annoying bulb warning light every time I break. Checked the bulbs they are fine. I've got quite a few led's missing from the high level brake light, could this be the issue? Will change the normal bulbs tomorrow for new ones to rule out the bulbs. Any other ideas? Cheers Dan

Missing LEDs will change the resistance on the circuit (which is how the bulb warning works, I think, it measures a "known" resistance on the circuit and if there's a bulb out then the resistance is too low because there isn't the right number of bulbs to increase it) so it could well be that.

I had this for ages with SWMBOs MK1 Fabia, turned out that the wrong break/tail light bulb had been used. Someone had fitted one with the pins directly opposed as against the one with the slightly offset & stepped pins!

Correct bulb fitted, problem never came back.

Changed for a brand new bulb now ok.

i had this problem, turned out to be the filliment in the bulb had broken off at one end of the prong it sat on, it would move around and catch current and glow but then would also lose currnt and cause the bulb warning light to come on

I did a continuity test on the bulb and resistance measured high . Cudnt see any damage on the filiment so must be a poor connection in the silver casing sumwhere lol
