Racing Shoes

Featured Replies

Thinking of picking up a pair of racing shoes as now that I have a clutch again, I've found my work shoes don't quite cut it :p

Does anyone use a pair for track days or normal driving? I'm wanting very thinly soled so I can get good feel. A decent pair seems to cost £150 :( but I'm not after anything FIA approved :D

Recommendations and insight appreciated.

puma speed cats

can be worn to the track and home and perfect to drive with and you dont look a knob when walking around lol

Lonsdale do some pretty thin soled trainers that can be bought for around £20.

Granted they may not be 'the in thing' but will do the job perfectly, don't whatever you do buy proper racing boots as you WILL look like a knob unless you are in a racing suit as well.

I'm only ever wearing these in the car so not bothering what they look like too much :p

They certainly look thin soled to me,

I have them saved in my watch list for the same reason funnily enough.

I'm a big Adidas fan and rarely wear other brands of shoe, their "Good Year"

range is well worth a look if you are after driving shoes too

I've discovered there's a big difference between 'driving shoes' and 'racing boots' though. Driving shoes look like they should come with a pipe ;)

Showing my age there LOL

I meant driving trainers.

Even I'm too young for hush puppies for now...

Check these search results ;)

Well I didn't have a clue until 30 minutes ago!

Didn't know Puma made this type of shoe. Hopefully be able to give them a try sometime soon.

That's why I got an all black pair, they don't stand out.

I got the lonsdale ones. Only £17 but I have noticed the toe is wearing quickly. But for the price I don't mind.

Puma speed cats!! Lovely trainers/driving shoes

I got a pair of these a few years back, although I don't think mine have "SPEED" written down the side and are fairly discrete - avoid the blue or red ones though. Very pleased with them and they're quick to put on and comfy with a nice thin, but grippy, sole. The price seemed fairly reasonable too compared to what else is on the market.

Unfortunately I'm in the look at my race boots I'm a knob camp. At a push paddock/mechanics boots/shoes maybe. I wear reebok classic trainers both boot and shoe versions in black for most things and intend wearing them for trackdays once the project is done. As Bossfox says they are inconspicuous and also clean up ok with a bit of polish. My link

That is all.

If you fancy being different, what about a pair of DC's aka Ken Block :)My link

I went for some of these in the end... Tacky but I don't care B)

They are quite narrow but I went for a half size bigger than I take and mine are snug but comfy.

Yet to wear them at the wheel though if I'm honest. Soles are thin and I reckon I'll feel the pedals

well through them. There's also a rounded heel cup which is nearly all rubber and will grip the carpet well.

And no they are not real carbon.. LOL
