Hi

Have an 03 Octavia estate which has just developed a loud annoying beeping noise whenever the indicator lights are on - it is in time with them and seems to come from the back left/right of the car.

I've been round the car and the only light that wasn't working was a rear number plate light which I replaced but the beeping is still continuing.

Is getting to the stage that if I can get away with it I don't use the indicators anymore - is driving me mad. Any ideas gratefully received.

This question is relevant -mine has a tow bar kit and yes it beeps from the rear to 'indicate' the trailer lights are coupled up.

So maybe there is a wiring fault/short circuit somewhere.

Yes I do have a towbar kit fitted although to make it clear this is happening without anything being towed.

i reckon its a fault in the wiring for the tow bar...might be worth having it checked or disconnected to see if it stops.

I agree, must be the towbar. Suggest checking:

- water in the socket

- wiring in the socket

- water under where the CD changer lives

I have a Skoda fabia estate that also does the same as above and beeps whenever my indicator bulbs flash, wherever i am indicating, locking/unlocking the car or using the hazards. All indicator bulbs work fine and I don’t have a tow bar. What could mine be?
