Mudflaps

Featured Replies

Hi,

Newbie to the forum looking for some advice. Will be taking delivery of my new vRS Hatch in around a months time, I've had a good look on the web and can't believe that there isn't mudflaps to fit the car. I was going to order these before the car arrived so I could put them on from new but i've read the regular Skoda flaps only fit with a gap (and require heating in hot water and a bit of brute force to fit) and that the Rallyflapz you can get for the Mk2 Pre-FL won't fit the FL model.

There must be someone out there that's successfully fitted flaps to a Hatch vRS? If so, do you have pictures of how they look?

Cheers,

Paul

They fit straight on with very little bother. There is barely a gap and it is at the back face of the mudflap so isn't really a dirt trap. I have the squared off mudflaps which i believe are the older style ones. You don't need to heat or force them on.

I have some fitment pics on the PC upstairs so will upload them when the PC is free (swmbo is working from home today).

I've yet to see a vRS with the latest 'rounded' rear flaps on though so if you end up being the first remember to post some pictures here

I also have the standard Skoda flaps on my car, a MK2 FL Hatch. The dealer told me how would supply & fit the front ones, but would only supply the rears as "they won't fit". I tried arguing with him, but he was sure they wouldn't fit.

Got the car home from the dealers and 1hr later both rear flaps were fitted, and most of that was just the jacking up of the car and removing the wheels.

There is a TINY gap between the flap and the bumper, i've never had an issue with it being a dirt trap and it would only be noticeable if you were deliberately looking for it.

A (not very good) recent pic of the rear corner of mine:

oobster, What wheels are those as they look mint, size/offset?

Oobster, are those the FL or pre FL flaps? Can't see that clearly on the pic

Well, according to the pic above that I found on the other 3-page thread on mudflaps on this forum, mine are the Pre-FL square profile.

Are the FL rounded ones the same price?

I've had all kinds of fun and games with my dealer trying to find the rounded ones and unless somebody has a defacto set of part numbers, I reckon they are a Photoshop ruse!

I'm not sure why you are struggling. I've already provided the part numbers above. Simply add an 'A' to the end of the part number used on the older square profile. Find a better dealer.

A photoshop ruse? I doubt it as there is an Octavia sat outside my window with the rounded rear flaps fitted.

In fact every UK spec facelift Octavia (excluding the vRS & Scout) comes fitted from the factory with latest rounded profile rear flaps fitted as standard...

The question isn't if they exist or if they are available, the question is what they look like on the vRS...

Why do people feel the need to deliver admonishing replies to posts when they don't know the person they are talking to? Seems to be the norm on Briskoda these days.........

Thanks Silver - I feel suitably "told"!! :-)

As you suggest I'll just nip out and find "a better dealer" as there are so many around my area!

Admonishing; to advise or urge (someone) earnestly.

1) You asked for the part number in a post directly under one where the part number you require was listed.

2) You accused me of a 'Photoshop ruse' which isn't true so I corrected you.

If you take umbrage at me 'advising you in earnest' after you accused me of attempting to mislead others then I apologise.

Just because your dealer wasn't able to help that doesn't mean what I post isn't true (nor does it stop you from phoning the parts department of one of any number of other, perhaps more knowledgeable, Skoda dealers).

May be you could add to this thread by sharing with us the 'fun and games' you had with your dealer in the hope this may help others avoid the same obstacles in their search of the mud flaps?

In fairness Ive had the same trouble, Skoda are currently not offfering the round spec flaps for purchase seperately and are only available if ordered from the factory!

All parts not in UK stock will have to come from the Czech Republic or direct from the supplier.

These new round profile mud flaps are new, Skoda currently have stock of the older square profile mud flaps and so won't want to stock the newer ones until they have shot of the old ones.

My local dealer (DM Keith) have checked the system. They are listed (KEA600001A) and they are also available to order.

They had already successfully ordered a pair for an insurance repair which is where I got the part number from.

The only reason I haven't bought them myself is I am undecided on whether either shape will have much effect on keeping the car clean and am unsure as to which profile I prefer, hence the request to see the rounded profile fitted to a vRS.

Some would regard quoting definitions unnecessarily condescending J

1) Sorry I missed the detail in the post above - a genuine mistake made during the time I was chatting to somebody on the phone while browsing the posts.

2) "Accused you" on both counts- I did nothing of the sort! May I suggest you re-read my post? I am not in the habit of accusing people unless I find them standing over a body, knife in hand with a murderous look in their eye!

As for “adding to this threadâ€; I really don't want to risk boring others with my trials and tribulations at the dealers as you have so comprehensively provided explanation and proof that these accessories which had previously eluded me, do indeed exist. Indeed there is a potential of doing the OP and others a disservice by clouding the issue further.

I'll doff my cap to you Mr.Silver as you're position as “Briskoda Mudflap Expert†is quite clear!

I'm off back to my dirty VRS with it's unfashionably square mudflaps............... :-)

Good Day!

"Accused you" on both counts- I did nothing of the sort.

Here are some more unneccessary (and far from condescending) quotes for you:

I took your 'Photoshope ruse' comment as an accusation of me 'making stuff up' which I wasn't happy with, I was simply trying to be helpful, unlike some.

All this faff aside, now the OP knows that he can fit mudflaps to his vRS and has the option to choose between two different styles, if anyone does eventually fit the latest round profile flaps to their vRS please post them here (or in any one of the many other vRS mudflap threads) and put us out of our misery.

Thank F it's Friday :D

Thanks for all the advice and bonus material chaps........

Actually thinkingI'll go for rallyflaps and trim them down tbh, have been keeping my eyes peeled for the last few days and noticed that the STD flaps don't seem to offer much in the way of protection.

will post pics once I get them on.
