you can get extra lighter sockets for wiring into a switched or permanent live (even Halfrauds have them), just make sure you tape the phone adapter into it securely and find somewhere behind the buttons to locate it with another of the blanks having just the required amount of cable poking through

Have to say, that's pretty cool. I really should do something similar for my phone to make it easier to use as a satnav (if I run it without being charged then the battery gets shafted within a couple of hours and the cig lighter in the Fabia is in the worst place ever!), I may have to copy that idea and see if I can route the USB charger cable through the centre console and behind like you have, that's much neater.
