Vag Special Tool T30099

Featured Replies

Anyone know where I can get one other than from VAG?

(They want £137.91 plus VAT!)

(For those interested, this is an engine support, as listed in Autodata for the cam belt change.)

The DIY one in the link sits in the bonnet channels either side of the engine bay and is used for engines with almost inline lifting eyes

The T30099 (plus clamps/hooks) sits on the suspension turrets with the foot (T30099/1) on the top of the carrier, so wouldn't be quite as simple to make. The lifting eyes are not inline for these engines.

Many thanks for the replies.

I had been thinking about using a jack to support the engine, as per the link, but wasn't sure whether this was safe enough - clearly not.

The T30099 seems to be the way to go, even at £137.91 plus VAT. Now I just have to find one/get someone to sell me one, as the dealer I talked to said that these are on back order, maybe 6 weeks.

Bearing in mind the offset lifting eye locations, I wonder if this would work?

No, that one is designed to fit in bonnet channels. You need one that sits on the suspension turrets with an arm to the top of the front carrier.

Many thanks - back to the genuine tool in this case.

Did you manage to track one of these down?
