Another Oil Leak Thread

Featured Replies

Just when I thought everything was satisfactory with the 1.4MPI, I seem to have developed an oil leak. I changed the oil 1000 miles ago with a pela pump and today realised ive lost 2l along the way.

I did notice a wet patch under the driver side of the engine one morning about two weeks ago but I assumed it was mel****er from all the snow. (I was driving off, so I didn't stop to check its consistency).

Under the hood there's a film of oil around the gasket cover seal bit (where it says Temac and all the way around)and what looks like old oil down the front of the engine....opposite the fan, around the bit where the oil pressure sensor is.

I know I've described it very poorly...but I hope it's enough for someone to point the finger at the culprit?

On another note, the oil pressure warning did not come on....given that I changed the sensor 7000 miles ago when it gave a false low pressure warning...should it not have been triggered at the loss of 2l?

Sneaky bump?

And now I need to sort out my alternator because of 17911 from handheld vagcom :( The charge warning light comes on during ignition and goes out after about 2sec of ignition...

On top of that, I'm getting a 16825 even though I put in a new charcoal canister a few months ago. No hiss when I open the fuel cap....so either the tubing has detached or its getting a false signal because of the lambda.

Grr!
