Some Suspension And Tracking Questions

Featured Replies

I have a 2005 vRS and have decided to lower it.

Its a daily driver and I dont feel the need for coilovers and the extra maintenance etc so I decided on Eibach springs -25mm, and a set of Bilstein B8's. I already have a full set of Superpro bushes fitted.

When I fit these I have decided I will do the strut tops at the same time.

Now some questions.

I have asked before and been told that I dont need to shorten the droplinks when lowering this much, however I am thinking of replacing them at the same time just so they are new and its not so expensive. Is it better to get standard ones or would shorter ones be better (even though not needed) as I am replacing them anyway.

I have read about replacing bumpstops, is this necessary?

One last thing I have to go and get the tracking re-done again should this wait until after all these mods or will these mods not affect the tracking.

Cheers

Anyone.

I also have Superpro console bushes fitted, I have been told the offset bushes are not necessary but would they make a difference when lowering this much or its better to keep the normal Superpro bushes.

With that drop the standard ones should be fine and the B8 dampers have built in bump stops.

Let me know if you need any prices.

Just fit some uprated Meyle HD droplinks from VW spares that's what I'm fitting on mine, can't do any harm, you may want to cut down your standard bumpstops or buy some Ibiza FR or Cupra bumpstops.

Do I need to get standard strut tops to go with the B8's or do they come with tops specific to the damper.

You just use the standard top mounts.
