Thanks in advance

Hi

Visit the Skoda tech website and you can download a Service manual and a Workshop manual for your car and engine. All questions answered there I'm sure. https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/erwin/showHome.do

It is €24 for a day's access and you can print from any of the .pdf files you download - for as long as you want. much cheaper than a Hynes manual.

Anyone else? Don't really want to pay to find out

How is €24 a day cheaper than a Haynes manual?

Usually pulling the bottom hose off does it. I believe they bleed themselves just keep topping the tank up.

What price access to the whole range of technical information specific to one's own car? If I had access to a suitably fast printer I wouldn't hesitate to download as much of that information as I could. JMTPW.

As far as I know coolant in VAG engines is a 'fit for life' item. You won't find changing coolant in the manufacturer's serivce schedule...

Once you download the literally thousands of pages of vehicle specific documents in .pdf format, you can print them to your heart's content.

That, I submit, is cheaper than a Hynes manual (currently doesn't exist for a petrol) which these days are very generic.

I don't understand why more people don't think it worth their while?

Coolant change every five years and pretty sure it is in service book , i think at a dealer about 40 quid.

Never done a coolant change on a vRS yet but done plenty of others. Just remove the bottom hose or radiator plug, let it all out, re-fit the plug/pipe and top up until the expansion tank is between min and max then squeeze top and bottom radiator hoses to expell any air then top up again if needed.

Fill up the coolant slowly up to the max level on the expansion reservoir then close the cap.

Switch off the heating and air-conditioning system.

Start the engine and maintain an engine speed of approx 2000rpm for about 3 minutes.

Run the engine until the radiator fan starts.

Check the coolant level with the cap still closed and top up further if necessary.

When the engine is at operating temperature the coolant level must be at the max marking. When the engine is cold it must be between the min and max markings.
