Rough Cost?

Featured Replies

what is the rough cost of having my cars chrome grille removed and painted in the bodys colour silver by a good body shop? Iv been to one today local in my lunch break and they said they wouldn't do the job as the paint they use wouldn't be guarranteed and once stone chipped could possibly lift.

Egh? I think they didn't want the work, or is it just me?

And on another note my discs and pads turned up today, didn't actually realise how big the 312 mm and 256nm discs are, should look great once my spiders are on.

Given it's the front of the car, Which will get stone damaged, And the body shop will be using water based paint, They're more than likely covering themselves from having to repeatedly repaint the grille when it gets chipped!

Your other options are to go back and see them, And ask them to do the work, With no warranty or guarantee, Or buy some wet & dry & rattle cans and attempt it yourself!

Cheers for your reply, it's def an option to go back and speak to the bodyshop again I guess. I may try somewhere else as well too.

I stripped the chrome off mine myself by sitting it in a bath/tub of bleach for a week or two. Had to refresh the bleach once or twice and rub down at the end with some oxide paper. A local bodyshop then sprayed it silver for £35.

If they key it up properly and use a etch primer it should be OK shame you are not down south may have been able to help
