Does it need a service?

Featured Replies

Got an 02 Octavia second hand which was last serviced a year ago. The service book says it is due for a service in 1 years time unless the car says otherwise

It has been in the dealers for at least 4 months now before I bought it, so is it based on time or miles? I thought it was at least yearly for an oil change.

The last owner did big miles, but I only do about 8K a year.

the service schedules can be set to either 10K miles or 12 months or variable where the service indicator on the car will come on when the car needs an oil change. i cant remember the exact miles for the variables max but 24months rings a bell for some reason. i think it might be 19K miles but someone with their car on this schedule will be along shortly.

Never heard of this variable servicing before.

Do you know what oil is in it and what have you used, if any, for topping up and how much?

My 03 plate Octy is on variable servicing. It has averaged out at around 19,000 miles before the service is due. Seems to suit me at the moment. The 2nd service cost

I have no idea what oil has been used, but it has main dealer history.

Is this variable servicing a cheaper option in the long run? What are the pros and cons?

Thanks in advance :)
