Wheel idea

Although I love my BBS CH reps, the more I look at them, the more I think 'to small' so I am having a little look around at 19's. Today I found these on eBay, opinions needed?

Generic, multifitment, black. For those reasons, I'm out.

I Love CHs but your right they do look a little small. I am not overly sure of them on the octavia mk2s. Plus on the VAG scene there abit common.

I think the problem is the spokes, if they extended to the edge of the rim it would make them look bigger. Ideally I would be looking at VMR's but way to expensive tbh! :(

Genuine RS4 wheels, so I think they are BBS.

You sure they are genuine? being multi-fit.

A guy on Ediiton is selling his gunmetal VMR710s. Bit more like it :)

They are on ebay as RS4 style, but in the body of the advert the seller states they are genuine. I questioned this for that very reason but he is adamant they are genuine.....

I hate you Nick......

.......more info required though!

Hehe. He's from Leeds. Only met him once. Stunning car he's got. He had Maybachs on it as winters!

He's not advertised the VMRs officially, but he's obviously getting bored of them as he's offering them up as part ex against other (epic) wheels...

Might be worth pinging him a PM.

1600 quid with a set of half decent 235 35 R19 tyres......

He hasn't got a clue then has he, why would audi make genuine wheels with both 5x100 & 5x112 PCD when they only fit them on a 5x112 car, I don't know of any genuine VAG wheels that are multi-fit.

I've got those wheels, in 19", on my white MK2 FL Octy. Can't say I was overly impressed with the purchasing experience from the company on your link but in fairness i CAN be a bit picky.

Those vmr's look awesome.

Probably get dissed nit why on earth does anyone live with wheels as big as that! potholes, speed humps ££££ for tyres.... all because they look good parked up?

I too like the VMRs , near me , down road Lee, Nicks link, I could check them out for you :)

Easy. I have 19" alloys fitted, with 235/35 tyres, and I also have coilovers fitted. I've had the 19's on for about 6 months now, right though the winter and not had an issue. Thats not to say I won't hit a pothole tomorrow and wreck a tyre/wheel (or worse) though. The whole point of speed bumps is to slow cars down, so I slow down for speed bumps the same as I would if I was running the standard 18" wheels and the car wasn't lowered. Yes tyres are more expensive, but there are no pockets in a shroud you can't take it with you!

For me, yes, its all because the car looks better. There isn't a massive gap between the wheelarch and the tyre, thus I think the car looks better. I like this style of wheel too. Of course there is a trade-off in terms of ride comfort but it is not as huge as you would think. Minimal difference.

Here is a pic of mine with 19" VMR V710 wheels in gunmetal Pagey:

@ Oobster, I blame you entirely for my love of this particular wheel. They look quite incredible on your car, I especially love how much of the brake disc is on show, S3's would look awesome behind them! I remember the op when you first had them and I thought they sat a bit outboard tbh? What size are you running? I was looking at 19 x 8.5J ET45........

@ Bluevrs, I would appreciate you doing a bit of snooping. By the way, picked up the antharcite nut covers today, perfect match for the wheels, cheers pal.

@ PC1212, there are pro's and con's to getting bigger wheels, argueably 17" is the best size to run for comfort, ride and handling, however on the Octavia they look tiny. As oobster says speed bumps are there to slow you down and if a pothole is bad enough to do serious damage to a 19" wheel, chances are it will damage a 17" also. Tyre prices aren't that different between 18 and 19, believe me I've looked. As far as aesthics go, both parked and rolling a bigger wheel will always look better than a smaller one. That said, I think 19 is the biggest you could get away with on the Octavia. B)

Lee, I work four days on , four off, rolling now off till Tueday , if you want me to check them out

Yes please.....

Oobster, those do look the nuts on your car.

Lee, you had better come up with a decent excuse to hide them from the missus :)

I fitted 19's to mine last night and can't really tell the difference between them and my 18's. Will see today with a drive down the lanes to work.

Details, please :)

Saw on facebook mate, gotta be honest, I'm not a fan of the wheel but I like the size. What were the sizes again? 19 x 8.5 ET45.......and you have spacers right?

I haven't got to worry about Kerry realising, the Golf has been remapped for 6 months and she still doesn't know, and did I mention the brakes...... :giggle:

Details, please :)

Leave that with me.
