Injector Cleaners and the MOT test

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have just filled the tank of my Mk1 TD to the brim and was about to add some red x injector cleaner, which i do from time to time. The car is having its annual MOT test next week and it crossed my mind initially that it would be an ideal time to add the cleaner. Then another thought crossed my mind, is the cleaner likely to have any adverse effects on the test results.

Im fairly certain it wont have any negative effects but I thought I would put theis question across just in case anyone knows. Thanks in advance

Shouldnt need it - might be best worth taking it for a motorway blast using the gears and revs to get the engine nice and hot - generally give it a good workout.

I'd save the money for the Redex and just give it a real Italian tune-up, making sure you hold it on the governor for several seconds in 2nd gear (or 3rd if legal where you are).

Thanks both, I just happen to have some redex in the garage.

I've heard some good things about Cataclean (taxi drivers favourite) whether they are true or urban myth I'm not certain :)
