Speaker upgrade proposal - thoughts?

Featured Replies

We are thinking of upgrading the standard speakers in our Yeti.  Our perception is that the main problem is a lack of mid-range, what there is coming from the drivers in the bottom of the doors.  So given that:

- The Skoda 12-speaker upgrade speaker is just in front of the armrest

- My Jag has speakers there and sounds excellent, even though it is the "basic" system

- There is limited depth on the Yeti to install a speaker there

I am thinking of installing a pair of these shallow dome mid-range units http://www.caraudiod...itech-2312.html using the shallow depression behind where the mid-range speaker would be.  I was hoping to connect them via a crossover fed off the existing bass drivers.  We could subsequently upgrade the existing drivers if we felt the need to.

Any thoughts/suggestions/pitfalls before I take the plunge and order them?  We're not looking for window-rattling bass, just a more balanced sound - especially at motorway speeds.
