How can I crank engine (tdi) over without it starting?

Featured Replies

Fitted new turbo, and I would like to turn the engine over a few times without it starting so I can prime the turbo and turbo oil feed with fresh oil.

How can I prevent the engine from starting?

Disconnect the crank sensor. Plug is on a fly lead by the oil filter housing.

Excellent, thanks :)

What happens if you disconnect the injector rail loom off the side of the engine? Just curious.

Found another thread that suggests pulling fuse 48?

No idea what the fuse is but the connector on the side of the head will also do it. The crank sensor just seems the easiest to me that's all.

And it worked a treat :)

Agreed, I only wondered as I know where the loom for the injectors is, but have never familiarised myself with the crank sensor one.

Injector/plug loom does same thing although it logs a load of faults and gets quite unhappy about it :p

About six inches to the left of the injector one ;)
