Adjusting alternator drive belt on 1.8t

Featured Replies

hi all, just wondering if anyone has done this, my car squeals at low revs under increased load so Im assuming its a slack belt, Ive had a quick look but can see an adjusting bolt, anyone shed some light on how i can do this?

Ive since discover that this belt is auto tensioned, some peeps have reccomended thats its chaged every two yrs, has anyone changed this belt before.... Bueller... Bueller... Bueller... anyone.... ;):D

I don't think it's an item that's scheduled to be changed. Many people replace it when doing the cambelt as it has to come off anyway. I know a few people on ukmkivs have changed theirs themselves.

Cheers Eddy, yeah one guy here in ireland siad every two yrs, but most schedules have it only being checked for condition up to 50K... just need to sort out the low rev chug it gives when pulling away with too little revs makes my driving sound like a granny...
