leather seating

Featured Replies

hi folks just bought an Octavia with leather upholstery any ideas on cleaning products. The fella who sold me the car recommended diluted cabbage water and damp cloth apparently keeps the leather supple and shiny.

Bet that mixture spells nice, how to impress the ladies  I suggest using the VAG Leather cream I use it about twice a year - I think thats what the manual says - I have used the Autolym cream also its very good. Just use either very very sparingly would be my advice. I always put the smallest amount on a valeting cloth - rub into cloth with my finger and then apply cloth to the seat - in effect using a pregnated cloth - then not too much is applied to the leather.

On my Freelander which I sold at 40,000 miles the light-coloured leather seats looked brand new after that period. During that time I only wiped them down twice with a damp cloth... I haven't had to do anything yet with my Fabia's though they may need more attention being slightly more matt than the Freelander's.

Zymol leather cleaner for actual cleaning (Halfords) and Swissol milk feed for preservation (Swissol dealer).

i've never tried the above, but I can say that after using the wipes it does actually protect the leather (as it claims) so you dont need to clean them.

I found my Mrs :slap: had got some chocolate melted onto the leather (no one knows how, cos I dont let it near my car) and it just came straight off with my finger, with the shiny wipe coating still intact

I'm not keen on the shiny look some cleaners leave. You really do need to use a milk feed of some type on leather though to keep some moisture in them and keep them supple.
