No need to be specced when ordering not fitted as standard

No need to be specced when ordering not fitted as standard

Thanks.

I've wanted to tweak some features but everything is blocked;

for example

Needle sweep, increasing the lane change indicator from 3 to 5 blinks etc.

All I can is doing on-off the DRLs from the button :D

i wanted to activate my corner light via vag but I just can´t find it!

In Portugal corner lights are no standert in elegace version

Needs to be fitted as they are not standard

Had these on a golf GTi for a few weeks and they are a complete waste of time. I even drove around corners slowly, but why I needed to see the kerb now when it wasn't needed for 23 years of driving before, who knows.

I live where there are hardly any lights and they gave absolutely no benefit. They're meant to be fog lights anyway, which light the periphery at a short distance. Why on earth we need these today is beyond me. Just an excuse for drivers to point at you and wonder why one of your fog lights are faulty, or better still, why they're on in the first place ? :wonder:

No jonny I have curve headlight my headlights turn for the corner

LOL :giggle:

I thought the post was for cornering fog light functionality .....

Ah could be both ;) very rural here and no street lights, I specked the curve projectors with cornering fogs, the fogs are useless but the cornering lights are brill , you still towing a Mobil 1 tanker ?

While reading this, It seems like the 2 fogs lights are completely different. So when I don't have cornering fogs (I can activate in VCDS but gives error) I just need to buy the right fog lights? Can anyone who has an Fabia with cornering lights make a picture of them, or even better take not of the part number?

Thanks.

In the UK fog lights are for use in Fog, poor visibility, to help see and be seen,

if you are driving in Fog with Fog lights on,

why does any one want one switching off as you corner?

The term Cornering is a bit confusing, Cornering Lights swivel, this is something that has become lost in translation.

Like the Term Fog, Driving and auxillary lights.

Not in this thread but with Manufacturers.

No idea what all those Grande Puntos are about, drivers that do not bother to indicate but you know they are going to turn because a 'fog Light'

or is it a DRL goes out at one side or another.

george

DRL and fogs's are separate

DRL + FOG's is NOT possible.

Just a switch of 3 wires.

1 for fog's only  into 2 for left and right. (and fog's (L+R) together)

PS...  they only work when you are driving slower than aprox 30 km/h.

It is possible activate them by steering and signaling. It's best to activate both options. (Think of driving an a roundabout)

check #5 you'll see 2 lights in each housing. One is the normal fog light, the other is your DRL. These are included in many models, some support corner lights, some don't. To make the VW options (same BCM) available on the Skoda you have to change the wiring. There's rather nothing fancy about it, it's a regular option which they bypassed by using a different BCM output pin. It's like the rain sensor on the Yeti, not active but included in most cases...

Hello PC-Freak,

How nice of you to join in.:giggle:

The cornerlight option is availible on the BCM, it's just a matter of wiring it. It can be done on other models (with only fog lights mounted) too.

When you switch on the fog lights the cornerlight function will stop working. When you will turn them off again, the cornerlight function is activated.

It's just 2 wires (left and right) with two functions. (cornerlights's and fog's)

George, I don't see your problem realy. The option is availible. It is aloud to have cornerlight activated. They are only turned on by signaling and cornering at low speeds.

So....   people who want this option activated, go to: :sun: www.skodaforum.eu :sun:

Cornerlights do not swivel :bandit: only active cornerlights do. Active cornerlights is swiveling dipped beam.

Cornerlights only light up corners. (With fog lights).

These two are rather different.

Fog's and cornerlights will only work when dipped beam is active.

So, running cornerlights and DRL's simultaniously is absolutly not possible.

Both functions: "Active cornering lights" and "cornerlights" can be seen here:

I agree with George.

Just why would you need them in the first place? They are only really activated at very low speeds (unless you're a WRC driver in the forests of Scotland)

How can a peripheral fog light help? If you can't see the corner at low speed with a dipped beam, you shouldn't really be on the road in the first place.

It's a marketing con, just like advertising cars with 'sporty spot lights' (which are in fact fog lamps)

The whole fashion of DRLs has had people switching on the fogs (sorry, sporty spot lights) for the sheer heck of it because it looks 'cool' in the eyes of fashion conscious teenagers and also older drivers who should know better.

When I see a car going around a round about, or slow corner, with their 'cornering' fog lights on, I feel so much safer knowing that without them, I could be in serious danger.  :whew:

 Possible solution:-

Cornering Driving lights

[09 – Cent Elect]
[Coding - 07]

[Long Coding Helper]

[byte - 14]

[bit - 07]

[Ensure Byte – 14, Bit – 00 is ticked]

@Jonny boy:

I think you and George are confused.

Fog's, DRL's and cornerlights (and active cornering) are totaly different.

Cornerlight do light up corners. I think you both haven't seen this feature yet. Otherwise you wouldn't have made this posts.

I answered the question:

"Would it be possible to activate cornerlights?"

The answer is: "YES",

But you will have to change the wiring layout. And than activate the option within VCDS.

The question: "Are cornerlights usefull?" is an other subject.
