2.8tdi Dodge Nitro, catalytic converter...

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Bit of a random one here, My dad has a 2.8tdi Dodge Nitro, The catalytic converter has gone, He has been given the price of £800 from dodge just for the part! & 2nd hand I cant seem to find any, No dodge nitro uk forum seems to exist and the car wasnt sold with that engine in the US,

My question is do you think a de-cat will be ok on it? Il have a look over on the Jeep forums as I believe they run the same engine,

Thanks

Rich

I don't know anything specifically about the Dodge Nitro but I doubt very much that de-catting will do it any harm, and may well make it run better. Catalysts don't do anything very useful on diesels anyway, and despite the rumours, missing cats are still not an MOT failure point on diesels.

^ cheers for the reply, thats about all I know about it too,

Anyway the situation has changed!...

Dad took it to another garage today, turns out the cat is fine and the noise is coming from a missing clip on the brake caliper....

What a joke! the 1st garage had it on the ramps etc for an hour investigating it!

Iv not had a look yet due to silly long work hours

Thanks

Rich
