constant beeping on VRS race car

Featured Replies

Hello,

Im a motorsport student at Myerscough College, one of our race cars being a Fabia VRS.

The car constantly beeps when the engine is on beeping about every 5 seconds, ive tried doing a bit of searching on here and read some things helping me a little but could do with confirming. As it could be anything from a blown bulb to undone seat belt sensor (uses harnesses) i think it would be best to just unplug the speaker that makes all these dings bongs and beeps? as i dont think we are in need of any of them to be honest!

Will this effect the immobiliser or running of the car at all?

heres a pic for you too see what were working with :)

Thanks

the light coming on the dash is not a coolant light is it, good lookin vrs btw, has it been remapped or just standard

I've been toying witht he idea of racnig a VRS for a couple of years now!

What championship are you planning on runngin in i'd love to see it in action?

As for the beeping as you say it could be anything.

A blown bulb is only a single loud beep after turning the ligths on and would be accompanied by a light on the dash

The seat belt undone warning should only sound once on the move rather than as soon as the engine is turned on.

It's the "You didn't buy a black one" alarm.

It sounds every five minutes to remind you of your mistake.

Everybody knows they are the fastest. :D

In all seriousness best of luck with the car.

Hope it does you proud

thanks for the replies, no there are no lights on the dash, like a say just the beep every 5 seconds or so. So is it just one speaker unit that makes all these noises? and can it be removed safely without having an effect on immobiliser or engine? or anything ha!

The car last year ran in Dunlop Producition Touring Car Trophy but was the only car in its class so didnt really get chance to compete unfortunately.

This season we are unsure of what championship it is running in, either that again, or possibly VAG trophy. Need to find a driver for it first though!

The car is next out on Friday 9th March at silverstone on a test day with Motorsport Magazine.

Do fabia vrs' come with a warning for if you don't wear your seatbelt as mine doesn't have one?

I'm happy to help. :hi:

yeah most people are until they hear the price lol.

To be fair we are very cheap, purely because the fee covers only race entries and tyres pretty much.... Because its ran by a college, we dont make out a profit in it at all, so we are by far the cheapest way into motorsport! usually tend to be half the next cheapest competitor!

If anybody is interested, PM me and il point you in the right direction :)

No you're dead right

i'm thinking about the handbrake on warning

It's coming through a stereo speaker or the dash cluster beeper?

'Handbrake on' sounds most likely i would think. Do you go to college with a lad called josh ullathorne? Im sure he's mentioned this car to me before

Tech1e - pretty sure it's coming through the dash cluster speaker mate :)

I don't know anybody of that name, must not be in my year (2nd year FDsc)

Ah well, from what he told me anyways it sounds like a cool little weapon :)

Techie, can the dash speaker be removed without any consequences?

Thanks

Chris
