Hi all,

Just bought a 55 plate 1.9TDI ambiente (very low price from someone in the family) I am surprised how much I like it!

and was looking at a few upgrades

Steering wheel controls

Maxidot

Columbus

HID

Claimatronic

The first one I think I'll sort is the climatronic as SWMBO likes the car a lot warmer than I do so separate zones would be good.

So - asking your collective intelligence...

1. Can I just retrofit a climatronic control panel from a breakers?

2. Do I need to play with VCDS?

I looked for stickies regarding all these diferent upgrades but it's a lot to take in - does anyone know of a good source for info of what works with what and compatibilities etc...

To convert Climatic to Climatronic you need (off the top of my head)

Climatronic control unit

Heater box (I think due to different flap arrangement and separate driver and passenger mixer)

All the vent temp sensors

Sunlight sensor

Wiring loom

Going to be around the £2k mark inc fitting I would think.

The upgrade to climatronic question comes up quite a bit, and as Tech1e says, it's pretty much prohibitively expensive, and would require significant work around the dashboard.
