MK1 or MK2 1.9 130BHP Or MK2 2.0 Elegance

Featured Replies

Hi All

New to the skoda forum so my first questions of probably many are.

I'm after a newer car so could anyone tell me the advantages of the MK2 over the MK1

and the MK2 1.9 130 BHP or MK2 2.0 140BHP.

All 3 models would be the Elegance spec or the Laurin & Klement but with no sunroof.

Thanks In Advance

Mark

You can't get a MK2 130bhp, the two diesel options were the 1.9 105bhp and the 2.0 140bhp.

The MK2 was a leap forward over the MK1, that's not to say the MK1 isn't a great car and for the money.

Is it possible to remap a Mk2 1.9 105bhp to 130 bhp.

Thanks

Mk1 based on Golf MKIV whereas Mk2 based on Golf MKV

Mk2 has independent rear suspension = better handling, nicer interior and better crash protection

I still miss our Mk 1, seemed to have more punch & far better on fuel. Mk 2 ( I bought a Scout) is a leap forward with the interior & general styling, more toys, possibly a nicer place to be sat on very long journeys but just lacks a bit of character over the Mk1 If you can find a low mileage Mk1 L&K Estate you will be extreemly lucky but its a cracking car & the sunroof was std as was leather & heated seats. The 110 will remap to 150/160, the 130 I believe up to 190. Our old one is still going well for a friend at around 180,000 miles.

Fimnding a good Mk1 may be hard & theres nowt wrong with the Mk 2, still stunning value for what you pay. The scout wont be our last Octy Im sure
